From Elizabeth Sandis – JACT Class Civ

Dear friends,

As you may know, the Joint Association of Classical Teachers (JACT) is
a national organisation which plays a key role in supporting teachers
of Classical subjects. JACT’s Classical Civilisation Committee currently
has two openings and is consequently seeking applications from teachers
who would like to become members. The committee makes an important
contribution to the support of those teaching and studying Classical
Civilisation topics (at all levels) and would value your input. Members
of the committee meet twice a year (usually in March and October) at
the Senate House on Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU. Meetings are scheduled
in the afternoon and travel expenses refunded in order to encourage
representation of all parts of the UK and not just the South East. The
meetings are usually preceded by a lunch with members of the other JACT
committees (Latin, Greek, Ancient History) and are an excellent opportunity
to meet fellow Classics teachers and exchange ideas.

If you would be interested in becoming a member of the JACT Classical
Civilisation please send the Chair, Dr David Carter, an email
( with a paragraph about yourself including
your teaching experience and interests.

On this occasion the committee is particularly interested in welcoming
new members from FE and Sixth Form Colleges in order to reflect the very
positive increase in the number of college students choosing Classical
Civilisation options.

With all best wishes
Elizabeth Sandis
