Roman battle at weekend

A ROMAN battle which brought a new emperor to power will be played out in miniature at Pontefract Museum on Saturday.

The battles of AD 194 and AD 197, where Septimius Severus fought off two military leaders to become the emperor of Rome, will be brought to life with model troops by Wakefield and Ossett Wargamers.
Townsfolk are invited to join in the battle – which is being held as part of the Romans! exhibition at the museum on Salter Row – or play a shorter version between 11am and 4pm on Saturday. The Romans! exhibition runs until Saturday April 26
