Summer School latest

The Director, Rob Soames, has sent the final programme, option group choices, college map and so on for the INSET to be held in Corpus Christi College, Cambridge from Sunday 22nd to Wednesday 25th July.

He has added this message:

The final
arrangements for the Summer School are now being made. All the
Lecturer's bookings are confirmed and we have 11 very interesting
Option Groups planned – see the final Timetable and other details on
this website.

As you will see
from the schematic, Corpus Christi College will provide an excellent
central base in Cambridge for the Summer School.

Car parking and
Cambridge don't mix, but if you do decide to travel by car we have
managed to secure a number of parking spaces fairly near to the
college. Details will go out to you with all the other detailed
information at the turn of the month.

We have around 55
people planning to come to the Summer School, but there is room for a
few more if you are quick.

Please
check out the details and if you haven't applied yet, get your
application in to Pauline Cox-Smith asap.

See you
there.

Decline and Fall – Rome and USA

There's a long excerpt from Are We Rome? by Cullen Murphy, with audio of the author reading and discussing it, at NPR.

PS Have now listened to the audio, and recommend it as thoughtful and well informed. (You may disagree, in which case do say so.)
