From Peterborough Today
YOUNGSTERS got the chance to go back in time when the Romans invaded a Peterborough school.
Secundus and Aggripina visited Paston Ridings Primary School, in Paston, on Monday and were met with a sea of wide-eyed grins from more than 60 seven and eight-year-olds.
The pair are part of the Legion XIII Geminae group which visit schools across the country to bring Roman history to life for pupils.
Year 3 teacher Sue McLean said: “The pupils had a wonderful time, especially hearing about all the Roman remedies of ailments, including mouse droppings and squashed flies for baldness.
“The group bring in artefacts and explain about the Roman invasion of Britain and the history behind it all.
“We have welcomed the group to the school before, and some of the children still talk about the day the Romans came, so it obviously sticks in their minds.”
